Painted Pumpkins

Next week is the Scary Art Show at the Bottlebrush Gallery in Harmony, PA. For this show I painted three pumpkins. Edgar Allen Poe was my theme. The pumpkin on the left was inspired by the poem The Raven.

Using a sharpie marker I wrote verses from the poem all over the pumpkin. As for the raven and skull, I used acrylic craft paint.

This pumpkin is The Tell Tale Heart, I bet you guessed that already.

I had painted the pictures on all three pumpkins before I decided to have a theme. They needed something more. The more turned out to be Poe who was wrong about never more...

I have no ides where this next pumpkin fits in. Lucky for me I found a passage in one of Poe's short stories about classifying creatures. This mystery creature is locked inside a pumpkin, but still dangerous!

The backs of the pumpkins (sorry for blurry photo) and the tops of The Raven and Tell Tale Heart pumpkins.

Cell phone photos are not the best but boy they make it easier to quickly take the photos and upload them to the web. I think for quality sake I will use my Canon for posts from now on.

I hope you paint a pumpkin this Halloween, it is way more fun than carving.

Have a great day and stop back soon!

  3. These are so fun! We started painting pumpkins instead of carving them about three years ago, but we've never done any as involved as these. Great job!
