Friday night I attended the Butler Art Center's Spring Show.
My good friend Maria Kovalenko Leysens won the
Evelyn Nicholas Portrait Award.
The portrait is of Sally, owner of Sally's Cider Press.
Maria captured Sally, a woman in charge and hard at work.

I was in the show too with Bursting at the Seams. The show had a Recycled Art category but few entries so they combined Recycled Art with Sculpture. Sculptures swept the category. It's hard to compete in art shows when most of the entries fall under decorative fine art. I need to find new venues.

Bursting at the Seams

I noticed that many people didn't even try to figure out what my piece was. Art with a message isn't the norm, it wasn't a landscape or still life of flowers. I will be on the internet looking for "my people" this week, there has to be place for less traditional art in my area.

Have a great day and stop back soon!

  2. Well I sure love your piece, it's so full of life, real life where it matters, not where it doesn't xox

  3. I love the Zentangles, and your 'message art' is very process driven which means it comes to life with your enthusiasm. We all get it, because you always share your intention with us. Your art is the perfect expression of your passions!
