My worlds are colliding! Well, at least overlapping. You see, I want to participate in two blog hops that are taking place today. Dilemma,... have two separate posts? Only do one of the blog hops? OR, combined them?  Bingo! I believe all the blog hoppers will be interested in both of these art projects.

Welcome to Kat Sloma's Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2014, and In Search of ROY G BIV with Jennifer Coyne Qudeen and company.

I'll start with the Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2014, because it is a once a year thing where as In Search of ROY G BIV is a monthly event.

The postcard featured at the top of this post is from the Kat Sloma herself, creator of the postcard swap. Kat is a professional photographer and teacher. Do visit her website Kat Eye Studio, There you will find information about workshops, ecourses, art tips and other resources. Add Kat's website to your "favorites" list and sign up for her news letter. If you missed this postcard swap, there is always next year!  ( I recommend getting involved with the swap, it's fun, your art is sent out into the world and there is a FB page where you can talk to other like minded people)

The Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap worked like this:
* get your artwork printed on professionally made postcards. ( not expensive)
* send 5 postcards to Kat
* she handles the swap and mailing to individuals.
* then you wait, 5 postcards plus one from Kat--making it 6 postcards show up in your mailbox.
(there are few other details but this gives you the "jist" of how it works)

These are the postcards I received.

Prayer, by Sze Min Chua
Acrylic paint on canvas.

The subject is Mary and shows her compassion toward a pain-suffering world.

I feel the need to place this postcard in a frame, so beautiful.

This piece was done on the iPad app, Sketch Club. It's creator, Kathie Bradley does not classify herself as an artist but a person who challenges herself to make beautiful images. She is more interested in the journey of creating and finding new paths.

As a fellow lover of challenges, all I can say is, well done!
Keep going, and good luck on all future projects.

This photo is from Kendra Laflin.

It's romantic, whimsical but with a touch of uncertain danger, mystery. It's like, I love it-- but is this place safe to visit?  I can't stop looking at it...

To see more of Kendra's work visit her at Thistle Cloud.

Photo by Cakers, a photographer for Minnesota.

I love this bold photo. It stood out amongst my other mail like a happy greeting of things to come. (winter is over, hurray!)
To see more of Caker's work click Cakers and Co.

This postcard is a photograph of a piece of artwork by Valerie Jael of Portland, OR.
I love the composition and colors.

It makes me think this is what the inside of my head looks like. The debates I have with myself  and I'll admit it, I talk to myself all the time. ( the cat has been ignoring me lately so who else am I to talk to?)

And this was my postcard for the swap. It's a page from my Fly Me to the Moon book.
It's also a good lead in to In Search of ROY G BIV because Green is the color for April.

In Search of ROY G BIV is a blog hop held each month by Jennifer Coyne Qudeen and friends. Each month a color is featured. This month is Green. Okay, for those who have not caught on, ROY G BIV is the color spectrum. Remember back in elementary school learning the trick Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue Indigo and Violet reduced to ROY G BIV? R being red, O being orange and so on. Maybe this is the first time you have heard of it...you learned something new today!

To see other blogs or be part of In Search of ROY G BIV visit Jennifer here.  Over the next few days she will be adding more links as people post their finds.

Green is the word, enjoy!

These two green photos were taken with my cell phone. I put a green lens filter from a 1950's Argus camera on the outside of my phone lens. (attached with Fun Tack, putty)

Wow, what a long post! Thanks for hanging in there with me. Have a great weekend and stop back soon!

  11. A coloured filter ... now that's an idea. Not thought of that on a modern digital camera. Finding the right colour would no longer be a problem for Roy G Biv!
