Sketchbook Project 2013
Yeah! It's done long before the January 15, 2014 deadline. Last year I mailed the sketchbook out on the very last day possible. This sketchbook is based on things found in my studio. Basically it features all the things I collect, along with projects new and old--- that are piled up in corners. If you are a regular reader here, it will be a review of my work. (not sure if this was a good or bad idea)
The mouse on a raft is from the Index Card a-Day (ICAD) challenge.
This page is experimental photography with my cell phone.
A page of things I love to collect on a scrap of paper where I
painted a tree. The tree is painted with my favorite metallic inks.
Pressed flowers and a few lovely's from my dead bug collection.
Fun with ink made from Poke berries.
These pages are about my love of mail art.
If I owe you mail art, I swear I'm working on it!
This last page is all about my love of dyed brown paper bags.
It feels good to be finished. Come Monday, this Sketchbook will be on it's way
to Brooklyn, NY. Then in the spring it will be on tour in the South East. They are no longer
taking all the sketchbooks on a national tour. They broke it up into regions.
At first I was put off by the idea of my sketchbook only visiting a few cities. After I thought about it, I see it makes scene. A smaller number of books on each tour means more chances of your sketchbook being viewed. In past tours I have had my books viewed only a 3 times during the seven city tour, rather disappointing.
The 2013 tour has been very good to me "view" wise. Here's hoping the 2014 is an even greater success!
Lovely pages and a lot of work has gone into them. May be one day I will have the time to try something like this.

You deserve a prize for getting the book done so far in advance of the deadline!! It looks awesome. I got a book when the caravan was in Toronto last spring, but have I even started it????
ReplyDeletewonderful work! It's fun to see your different passions and styles incorporated into one book. And I'm so impressed you finished it so far ahead of schedule.
