Thank you Karen Isaacson for your wonderful mail art!

February is coming to an end and none too soon. So far 2013, has been my winter of discontent. My beautiful new art studio has, for the most part, sat empty of me. Absolutely no art juju coursing through my veins.
However, I did manage to write not one, but two stories for the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Contest.  (I am only submitting one story) I’m glad I entered the contest; it really changed my thinking process.
Now back to art. I still have not altered the cool winter coats I was given. I know exactly what I want to do with them; I’m just not motivated to start the project. The tunnel book from my last blog post sits half done and frankly, I just don’t want to finish it.

Now here is the good news . . . I know, finally!    I found a project that makes me want to jump out of bed and race to my studio.

Yearly, we have two recycled art shows here in Butler County. I’ve done both and swore never to do either again. One has a good location, but is poorly managed. The second has a bad location and they let artwork in if it’s recycled or the color green. Most of the show ends up being entries based on the color green not recycled art.
The shows have been combined and it’s now going to be held close to Earth Day. (neither show were  near  that date) To sum it up, a recycled art show held at a good location, entries can only be made of recycled materials and it runs during Earth Day.  Hallelujah!!!

Recycled Art Show, I'm in! April 12th deadline!!!!!  I love and NEED deadlines.

Thank you Diane Moore for this postcard of a watercolor painted at the Manzanar War Relocation Center. The military-style camp in California's Owens Valley housed Japanese men, women and children during WWII.  The original watercolor was painted by Takee Itokawa while he lived at the internment camp.

  2. aw, thanks Jill! glad you've got something to get fired up about. Today, in spite of the five inches of snow we got yesterday, I saw the first of my snowdrops poking through. This horrid winter is drawing to a close and there will be earth day art to celebrate!
