The blank page
The sketch book from The Sketchbook Project 2010 came last week. Also included was my very own The Brooklyn Art Library, library card. One of the requirements when I signed up was to pick a topic for my sketchbook. I chose, " a record year for rainfall".
It's a timely topic for western PA. We had a wet spring that has flowed into a wet summer. The subject matter also appealed to my environmentalist nature. I have a degree in Environmental Science. In college I took several meteorology and hydrology classes. When talking about rainfall my brain conjures up images from many sources.
I think pictures of our vegetable garden is a good visual as to how the rain fall is effecting my environment.

I didn't want a garden this year and didn't help put it in. We usually put seven layers of news paper down with straw on top to block weeds. I don't think my husband put enough news paper down. The weeds are growing ...like weeds!
Zucchini and pole beans.
I didn't want to can this fall. My husband planted 40 tomato plants. I'll probably be canning!
I was going to take the weed whacker around the plants today but it rained and the bugs will eat me alive.
I need to find an old pot. I really want to try making dye from marigolds.
I picked these two zucchini and banana peppers today. Lots more zucchini to pick.
Thanks for visiting my blog today and taking the time to say hello. It was nice to hear from you. As for a garden...I'm all about it - I just don't want to do the work - not so much the planting - it's the weeding...ugh.

I would love a garden some day but my mother in law has a huge one (Italian), lot's of zucchini, eggplant and of course tomatoes :)
