Manic Monday

This morning started out as, "just another manic Monday". As I sat on my front porch listening to the birds and drinking coffee I had a little commune with God. It went something like " I need direction, help!".  Scattered thoughts aside, I decided to skip computer time and work on a project. When I couldn't ignore my stomach any more I sat down at the computer with my breakfast.

I have not looked in on any blogs for a few days. First up was a peek in at Rischa, her blog is Refuge Pour les Artistes. Rischa was very excited about The Sketchbook Project 2011. Click the badge to the right if your interested. Boy was I interested, I signed myself up toot-sweet!

Next I stopped in at A Bird in the Hand. The fabulously French Colette was dyeing her wonderfully delicate fabrics in natural dyes that she is making. Inspired me to defoliate our marigold plants for yellow dye and find Avocados for pink dye. Yes, I said pink dye. I have to try that one out.

My last stop was with JC at Zendoll. On a recent trip to Colorado she met chef Marcus Samuelsson. One of my favorite recipes I love to make is his Spicy Chicken noodles made with coconut milk. So I'm off to the store to buy an avocado and some chicken.
So it would seem that to get my mind unstuck and moving I needed to add more to my art project list. I can't help but think there is some belly laughing going on in Heaven.

Yesterday my husband and I packed up our very fancy cameras and drove two hours north of our home to Cook's Forest, PA State Park. I had high hopes of spending a "kid less" day with my husband and returning home with photos I could brag about. Let's just say at the end of the day we wished we would have just stayed home. All my pictures look like all the other pictures I take in the woods around our house.

Then as we turned onto our road there were these lovely fields. They look like Van Gogh paintings.
Just goes to show, "There's no place like home."

  1. Thank you for your comment Jill! I use Paint Shop Pro which I am very happy with but I know a lot of people use photoshop. There are more magazines etc for this one but you can do most things with PSP as well. There are 30-day free downloads for you to try. Let me know how you get on! Julia (ju-north <><)

  2. Your photo of the field makes me want to run into it and plop myself down in it! You may know this already, but avocados are also classed as "good fat" as opposed to "bad fat." They do wonders for anyone with cholesterol problems. I love that the whole fruit (veg?) can be used: eat, dye, grow from the seed.
