Art Talk Tuesday

The next eleven days of my life are dedicated to Eva's Mad Hatter Birthday Party. I think it will take all of my creative know how to pull off a crazy over the top party on a small budget. I am the queen of recycle, reuse and repurpose so if anyone can do it, it has to be me! Here we go, for my first great feat... invitations.

A Mad Hatter hat invitation. The base is a flat piece of black cardstock. I inserted the upper part into a slit in the base, bent the paper and taped it down. The card stands up, 3D. I do love 3D art.

Originally I planned to bend the top backward to lay flat for mailing, then instruct the recipient to stand the chimney of the hat back up into a standing position. Now,  I think we may be hand delivering the invitations. All of the important party details are printed on the underside of the hat base.

Eva has been dragging out her birthday. The day of her birthday we took her out to lunch and she ordered frog legs. She loves to try new things. Also on her birthday wish list was a canoe trip. We went on a four mile canoe trip down the Clarion River in Cook's Forest. It was a lot of fun. Her last wish was to go to the Butler Farm Show. We did that last night.

Eva with her dad, he is helping Tatum load her cork gun.
(Eva cut all her hair off for the summer, and she loves it)

We really went all out this year for her birthday. Partly because my husband will be in Italy for the next three weeks. Eva will be back in school when he comes home. For us summer will be over.
On August 17th Eva will have a birthday party with family and friends from school. It's a good way to reconnect with all her school chums before the first day of school.
